From the lush highlands of Murang’a County in Kenya’s Mathioya District comes Gondo, a meticulously processed coffee produced by 727 small-scale farmers in the Kihoya subregion. Gondo Coffee Factory, established in 1998, is known for its commitment to quality and community.
Each cherry is hand-picked at peak ripeness and carefully sorted to remove underripe or overripe fruit. Processing begins the same day at the wet mill, using clean water from the nearby Kananahu stream. After fermentation for 16–18 hours, the beans are washed, graded, and sun-dried with moisture monitoring to ensure consistency.
The result is a vibrant and complex cup that reflects the rich volcanic soil and high elevation of the region.
Gondo coffee is more than just a cup—it's a story of resilience, tradition, and the hope that coffee can create brighter futures in rural Kenya.
